Vehicle Dynamics Analysis

We started by analysing the forces that affect a car’s chassis during high-performance driving scenarios.

Peak Force Calculations:
To determine how the K-Brace® would impact handling, we developed a custom load calculator. This tool allowed us to simulate the peak forces acting on a car under various conditions. For this test, we based our calculations on a Mk4 Volkswagen Golf racing around the iconic Silverstone Race Circuit.

Creating the CAD Test Car

To accurately simulate real-world performance, we needed a reliable digital representation of the car.

  • CAD Model Development: Using the dimensions of a Mk4 Volkswagen Golf, we created a detailed CAD model of the vehicle.
  • Simplified for Accuracy: To ensure precise results, we simplified the CAD model, removing any unnecessary details. This allowed us to isolate the effect of the K-Brace® and eliminate other variables.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

With our CAD model ready, we used Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate how the vehicle’s body responds to different forces.

  • Force Application: Using the data from our load calculator, we applied realistic forces to the CAD model under various driving conditions.
  • Proven Confidence: Each test documented how the K-Brace® reduced chassis flex, providing clear evidence that our product enhances vehicle dynamics, even under extreme loads.

Example Simulation: Silverstone’s Copse Corner

To illustrate the impact of the K-Brace®, we simulated the Mk4 Volkswagen Golf racing through Copse corner at Silverstone, a high-speed section that puts significant stress on a car’s chassis.

Results: The simulation revealed an 18% reduction in body deflection with the K-Brace® installed. This reduction allows the suspension to maintain greater control over the car’s dynamics, improving handling, precision and driver confidence.
